Refrigeration is a category in retail stores that continues to show strength, with both units and value holding steady over the past year, according to GfK (MAT August 2012). As the weather warms up, Samsung has announced the launch of its latest range of bottom-mount refrigerators, with three models targeted at Australian consumers.

With pricing ranging from RRP $1,599 up to $2,099, the models include features such as adjustable door guards, a railed crisper drawer and a “smart sensor system” that monitors usage patterns to maintain a constant steady temperature.

All three models also offer a 3.5-Star Energy rating and are positioned within a “leading class” of energy efficient refrigeration appliances, according to Samsung.

Talking up the new range was Samsung Electronics Australia’s head of home appliances, Mike Lilly.

“Samsung’s research has found that Australians are moving away from the traditional refrigerator design, and are seeking fridge and freezer combinations that are energy efficient, reliable and customisable to suit family’s needs.

“With the refrigerator recently being named the number one most significant invention in the history of food and drink – Samsung continues to push the boundaries of design and innovation with the launch of the new bottom mount refrigerator range.”

One of the innovative design features being pushed is Samsung’s “triple foldable shelf system” which works as a regular shelf, but can also be folded in half or flipped up to accommodate different sized containers in the fridge.

On the outside, Samsung has also focused on design with a blue LED control display (which is matched by dual LED stage lighting on the interior) as well as a fingerprint-resistant layered steel exterior on the top two models which “accepts magnets and virtually has the same look and feel as stainless steel”. The top-of-the range refrigerator also features a refillable water dispenser which does not require plumbing.

The three bottom-mount refrigerators are available now, with a ten-year parts warranty available on the internal Digital Inverter Compressor.

Pricing (provided by Samsung):
SRL448DLS – with refillable water dispenser and layered steel finish, RRP $2,099
SRL450ELS – with layered steel finish, RRP $1,899
SRL449EW – RRP $1,599
