Woolworths' big box hardware store, Masters, is offering a 5 per cent discount to qualifying tradespeople and builders, provided they pay for their purchases using a special Masters credit card. The discount will apply to all purchases in-store and online, with exceptions only for gift cards, trade packs and negotiated prices matches.

The release announcing this policy reads:

"Hitachi, Panasonic, Bosch Blue, James Hardie, Boral, Stegbar, Fletchers, Carter Holt Harvey and Cement Australia are just some of the major hardware and building brands on offer at Masters covering everything a tradesperson needs, from cement, timber, doors and windows to insulation, roofing, flooring and ladders.

"Plus there’s also over 35,000 home items to choose from covering lighting, paint, flooring, kitchens, outdoor furniture, appliances, gardens, walls, windows, storage and bathrooms, to suit every DIY or home renovation project.

"To redeem the 5 per cent discount, trade customers must scan their Masters Trade Member Card at the checkouts and make payment using their Trade Account card.

"The Trade Member Program also provides trade customers with unbeatable trade-only offers, product updates, incentives, competitions and promotions and is valid across all Masters stores.

"The Trade Account has been built to meet the needs of trade business owners, and includes benefits such as monthly statements with receipt information, job referencing, GST itemisation, no annual card fee or online account management fees, and up to 60 credit-free days."

Trade card sounds good, but have you ever tried to call a Masters store? 1300 number is a nightmare and trying to get put through to the store / area you want can do your head in. I was unfortunate enough to try and do an interest-free deal at their Gregory Hills store once - now I have had to attend the store another TWO times to try and fix the paperwork up. If they only had interest-free that they knew how to use, they could capture some market share off Harvey.
