The ACCC has issued a recall notice for the Sieger Steam Mop, sold at Target stores across Australia, because of potential for the power cord to split and cause an electric shock.

The electric steam mop has the model number STC-TROO1-GAU and was sold nationally at Target between 1 January 2011 and 16 May 2012. According to the recall notice, the Sieger mop has the potential to cause an electric shock hazard, as “flexing of the power cord may cause electrical conductors to become exposed, creating an electrical safety hazard”.

Consumers are advised to cease using the product and to return it to their nearest Target or Target Country store for a full refund.

For more information, customers should contact Target customer relations on 1800 814 788, Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm.
