DHL has signed up its second manufacturing partner, Samsung Electronics Australia, for recycling services under the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme. Samsung joins Sony Australia in the DHL recycling stable.

“In March this year, DHL announced its success in gaining government approval as the first organisation to deliver services under the national scheme,” said DHL Supply Chain CEO South Pacific Terry Ryan. “Whilst the scheme is a first for Australia, DHL brings considerable knowledge and experience from the UK, where we are a leading service provider under similar legislation.

“With a business relationship spanning 10 years, DHL is delighted to be providing a product stewardship solution to the Australian arm of its global customer, Samsung Electronics.”

DHL became the first accredited provider under the new scheme to commence services when it opened two collection stations in Canberra in mid-May 2012.

Here’s Samsung Australia marketing director Arno Lenior.

“Samsung Electronics Australia looks forward to working with DHL in fulfilling our product stewardship obligations, expanding on our existing relationship and achieving the scheme’s targets,” he said. “The scheme was developed through industry and government co-operation.

“It is rewarding to see that on-ground activity is now underway and that Samsung is actively supporting the scheme, by helping to reduce these products being sent to landfill.”
