Microsoft goes back to the golden era to take a jab at Google

Microsoft has long been the top dog in the digital sandlot, but its latest promotional video breaks the cardinal rule of advertising: never mention your competitors, especially if they’re the underdogs.

Has the great Microsoft lost its position at the top? Are Google apps a menacing threat to the continuing success of Microsoft Office? Is the use of soft focus and white loafers a sign that our love of all things retro has finally pushed us back to the ’80s?

These questions and more are answered in this great video from Microsoft. The performances from the soloing soul singer and the Bonnie Tyler-esque office manager are particular standouts.

The person who wrote this is obviously to young to have ever seen a episode of Moonlighting. Good effort with the Al Jarreau sound a like, and the Cybill Shepherd look a like. But Mr google ain't a patch on David Addison (Bruce Willis).
