Smeg has announced a new addition to its line-up of FAB fridges, with the release of a chocolate-coloured FAB28 refrigerator. Like the other models in the range, the fridge features rounded edges and the Smeg brand across the front, as well as a retro-styled bar handle, though this model is finished in brass, rather than the standard chrome.

“For years foodies have loved the cool style of the FAB28 refrigerator – and now chocaholics will find it simply irresistible!” said a Smeg spokesperson.

“There are 256 litres of chilled, cool space; three adjustable quick-chill crystal shelves; automatic defrost; chrome five-bottle wine rack; 26-litre frozen food storage and a full-width salad and vegetable crisper.

“Deeply glossy, velvety chocolate with rich golden brass handles and logo, this FAB will make one melt with its beautiful 50s styling - then open the door and swoon at the very 21st century styling!”

The refrigerator will be available nationally for RRP $4490.

In other major appliance news, Blanco has announced a partnership with Vaucluse Public School in Sydney to provide fixtures for a “classroom kitchen” at the school as a part of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program.

The not-for-profit organisation – which is named after the famous Australian chef and food writer – was set up to teach school children about healthy food and to give them experience working with food in a garden and a home-style kitchen. As part of the program, Blanco will install sinks, taps and waste management products into the classroom kitchen.

Speaking about the arrangement was Blanco brand manager Jennelle Larven.

“Like the Kitchen Garden Program, Blanco is committed to providing educational and positive food moments,” said Larven. “We are delighted to help the students at Vaucluse Public School with this initiative. It’s great to see the children being taught the importance of quality ingredients in the cooking process.”
