Tefal has begun a social-media focused consumer competition to promote the Tefal ActiFry, with one appliance up for grabs every week for twelve weeks, leading into the New Year.

The “Are you the hottest chip?” promotion asks consumers to create their own hot chip, using a step-by-step animation that lets them change the look of a cartoon chip. Users can choose how tanned (or cooked) they want their chip, and then add accessories such as a “bacon handbag” or “salt sunglasses” to season their cartoon snack.

Spruiking the competition was Tefal ActiFry brand manager, Elodie Bois.

“For a first step into the social media space, we are amazed by the success of this campaign," said Bois. "The number of fans is growing at an incredible pace and we already received great insights from the community”.

Since the launch of the Facebook page 3 weeks ago, the competition has more than 7,000 fans - making up a "thriving community [that] provides consumers a touch-point to connect and discuss all things about food, recipes and Tefal appliances."

Winners each week are decided based on the number of votes their chip receives, with first place receiving a Tefal ActiFry, second place winning a three-level VitaCuisine Compact steamer, and third place picking up a Fresh Express mini food processor.

The competition runs from 1 November 2011 to 22 January 2012, with full terms and conditions available at the competition website.

Tefal's Hottest Chip competition starts by letting users choose the cut of their chip...

...And finishes with a fully-accessorised snack.
