The ACCC has today issued a product recall for the Go-4-Green EnergySmart Energy Saving Device – a plug-in device that is designed to save energy use.

According to the ACCC, the branded Go4Green EnergySmart device (model number SD001) may cause an electric shock. “The product breaches the relevant electrical safety standard, as an internal capacitor can discharge through the pins if they are both touched once it has been unplugged,” the ACCC said.

The product was sold between 30 January 2011 and 1 September 2011, and was available nationally and online. Go-4-Green Pty Ltd listed the following stores as retailers of the device:

Australian Discovery Group; Allsafe Energy Efficient Products; Be-Home Dezign; Glynncorp Electrical Contracting; Mudgee Solar & Hot Water; David Saric; Static Electrical Services; Associated Products; Burmar Pty Ltd (trading as Planet Power Wagga); Loddon Downs; Planet Power Albury; Seven Seventy Pty Ltd; ThermoSealed Batts; ThermoSealed Batts WA; Clean NRG (trading as Planet Power); Glenn Moran; Planet Power Kawana; and Sola Connection.

Consumers are advised to immediately stop using the product and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

The ACCC has also issued a recall for the Sunlovers Ultimate 1600 Steam Mop – an electric steam mop designed for cleaning floors.

The product (model number XY518) can be recognised by the “Ultimate 1600” decals on the body of the machine, and was sold nationally between 25 July and 21 October 2011.

According to the ACCC, “A manufacturing fault in the heating element may allow electric current to track to earth, causing the house RCD to trip and switch off all mains power”. This may result in the possibility of electric shock from the heating element.

Consumers are advised to immediately cease using the product and return it to the supplier, Ultimate Online Deals.

For further information, consumers can email the supplier at ultimateonlinedeals@hotmail.com,  or call 0418 264 689.
