One retailer clearly not feeling the pinch at the moment is Jaycar Electronics. While Harvey Norman is experiencing currency pressures and Dick Smith is under strategic review, the privately owned retailer has had to relocate two of its Far North Queensland stores in order to accommodate more products.

Marketing manager Murray Roberts said the new Townsville and Cairns stores are up to three times the size of the original outlets.

“These Queensland stores started to burst at the seams with demand for our products,” exclaimed a clearly satisfied Roberts. “The new stores can carry a much larger amount of products, helping us better satisfy all of our customers, all the time.

“Now in more convenient locations and with more on-site parking, the new stores make it easier for our customers to do their shopping. The new open plan store sizes will not only account for a larger product range, but will give us more room for interactive displays so customers have easier access to view products.”
