Sony Australia has this morning released a portable USB charger for use with smartphones, digital media players, cameras and other compatible devices.

The CP-ELS charger (RRP $39) has a 2,000mAh battery capacity and be charged via a PC’s USB port. You can then connect this to another device through the MicroUSB port (cables included).

Nearly all non-Apple smartphones now use MicroUSB for charging, as do many cameras, portable media players, camcorders and some voice recorders.

“With smartphones, MP3 players, gaming devices, cameras, camcorders and other electronic devices playing an increasingly important role in our lives, there’s a growing demand for recharging while on the go. The new CP-ELS portable USB charger from Sony demonstrates how we constantly aim to innovate in ways that bring real value to our customers,” said Sony Australia assistant product manager Serene Goh.

“It can be a huge inconvenience when these portable devices run out of battery, but with the CP-ELS, our customers will always have a supply of power.”

This charger represents a good upsell opportunity for retailers when selling any compatible device.
