The first Masters store is now open in the Melbourne suburb Braybrook. In addition to selling traditional hardware staples, Masters also stocks appliances including refrigerators, microwaves, washing machines and vacuum cleaners.

Appliance brands confirmed for the new Masters store include Electrolux, Whirlpool, Samsung, Panasonic and Fisher & Paykel.

One brand that will be supplying products across a range of categories is Bosch, which is set to sell appliances across the dishwashing, cooking, laundry, refrigeration and power tool categories.

“We are finding Australia is now ready to follow a long-standing European trend for built-in appliances, which are best sold in an environment where customers can visualise their new kitchen or laundry,” said a spokesperson.

“Masters is finally offering that solution to customers and based on the experience and strength of the Bosch brand, we not only want to but can contribute towards the development and uptake of built-in appliances.

“For some, it is important to see an electrical specialist, while for others the sheer convenience is more appealing. The different models can actually work effectively side-by-side, and the industry would reap the benefits if it focused on this model, which would naturally increase both kitchen and built-in appliance business.”

It is great to see a new player in the market place, and how happy suppliers are to jump in. I know that is great for comsumers, but what about Traditional Retailers that have been supporting these Manufacturers(suppiers) for years. What support are been forward to them? How are Manufacturers (suppliers) assisting them? How can they compete with the buying size of the new mega retailers (Masters stores, Bunning Stores)? These Manufacturers (suppliers) Pay for position in these big New mega retailers, Do they offer the same to the Traditional Retailers? And These are the same Manufacturers who have drop their pants for the on line E-tailers who only offer price(and they call this a service that the consumer has asked for, the same way that coles and woolworths says that the consumer request that easter eggs are avaible from the first of Janurary each year). All you see today is that comsumer are going into Traditional retail stores to look at products, and then hits the internet for the best price. And some times they will go back to the Traditional retail stores and say I can buy it for this price and can you match it, if not I will buy it on line. And it is sad to see this as the margins that the online E-tailer use are so low as they are not a Traditional retailer who has no over heads, no warehouse as they rely on Manufacturers to hold on to all stock. Do they Charge the E-tailers for holding stock? SO WHAT IS HAPPENING TO BRICKS AND MORTOR RETAILERS, THEY ARE CLOSING DOWN.
