SYDNEY, NSW: The ACCC has announced a recall of a range of powered amplifiers, speakers, subwoofers and DTX monitor systems from Yamaha Music Australia.

The models (listed below) were available for sale by authorised Yamaha music dealers in all Australian states and territories except Tasmania, and were sold from 12 October 2010 to 22 June 2011, according to the ACCC release.

The ACCC claims “the products can cause serious injury or death to the user through electrocution” due to incorrect wiring in the mains plugs of faulty units.

Consumers are advised to “immediately stop using the product and contact Yamaha to have the mains plug tested by an approved technician, and rewired if faulty”. Yamaha Music Australia Pty Ltd can be contacted on (03) 9693 5127 (9-5pm, EST Monday to Friday) or productrecall_australia@gmx.yamaha.com.

List of models that pose a potential risk (as provided by the ACCC):

-Powered Amplifiers - P2500S, P3500S, P5000SJ, P7000S.
-Powered Speakers - DSR112, DSR115.
