SYDNEY, NSW: Kalidek Enterprises, trading as Maxim Housewares, has issued a recall of their Maxim Fireplace Heater. According to the ACCC, “the front legs were made of non-fire-retardent material in contravention of the mandatory electrical safety standard.”

The imitation electrical fireplace poses a hazard because the front legs can overheat, melt and possibly catch fire, the ACCC said.

The product was sold in New South Wales and Victoria from 13 May 2011 to 23 May 2011. The ACCC lists the traders that sold this product as:

  • Good Guys at Auburn, NSW.
  • My Home Collection at Fairfield, NSW.
  • Kingsford Retravision at Kingsford, NSW.
  • Good Guys at Preston, VIC.
  • Sheparton Retravision at Shepparton, VIC.

Consumers are asked to return the product to their place of purchase immediately for credit or replacement with new stock. For further information, consumers may call Kalidek Enterprises Pty Ltd, trading as Maxim Housewares, on 1300 728 871.
