SYDNEY, NSW: Nintendo has affirmed the popularity of the 3DS by issuing a sales report from the first four days of the device’s sale in Australia.

Over 31,000 units of the 3DS were sold in the first four days since launching on 31 March marking a record handful of days, according to a statement released by Nintendo today.

The four-day sales data was collected by Nintendo from retail partner reporting and the figures come close to Nintendo’s hugely popular Wii console. Released in 2006, the Wii has sold over 2.1 million units and holds Nintendo’s record for biggest week one sell in the consol category, reaching 32,000 in the seven days.
