SYDNEY, NSW: Vodafone has been announced as the exclusive carrier for Samsung’s first Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) tablet device in over 20 markets around the world.
This morning in Sydney, Josh Delgado, director of mobile at Samsung Australia, did not reveal pricing for the new tablet, but did say that it would be launched in the second quarter of this year. The tablet features a dual core processor, an 8-megapixel rear facing camera, a 2-megapixel front facing camera and dual surround speakers.
Also to launch no later than June is the new 4.27-inch Galaxy S II, the successor to Samsung’s flagship smartphone the Galaxy S. The Korean company is pitching it as the world’s slimmest smartphone, at just 8.49 millimetres thin – and thanks to a Super AMOLED Plus display the unit is also light, weighing in at 116 grams.
The Galaxy S II uses Android 2.3 Gingerbread and features access to four ‘entertainment hubs’ for music, games, e-reading and social networking services. Delgado said this smartphone would be open to multiple carriers. It also comes equipped with an 8-megapixel camera and camcorder with 1080p full HD recording.
Other smartphones in the Samsung range revealed today included the Galaxy Ace, the Galaxy Fit, the Galaxy Gio and the Galaxy mini.
