SYDNEY, NSW: Imation has recalled two Wii accessories under the Memorex brand due to a potential risk of overheating leading to melting plastic.

The Memorex Dual Controller Charging Kit and Memorex Premium Starter Kit for Wii controllers have been recalled due hazards created by the potential overheating of the charging base. In rare cases the bases may overheat and cause the plastic to melt and deform, according to the Imation recall notice.

The products were sold through Dick Smith stores nationwide since October 2010.

Consumers have been asked to stop using the product and return it to a Dick Smith store for a replacement or a full refund.
