SYDNEY, NSW: Daikin performed strongly across all but one of the categories: price, where Samsung and Kelvinator picked up the slack equally scoring top marks, according to the Canstar Blue survey which compares customer satisfaction between brands.

Areas of consumer concern were not directed at the air conditioners themselves, but installation, with inconvenient locations or faulty installation causing most complaints. Canstar Cannex’s head of research, Steve Mickenbecker, said that energy efficiency was a concern as half the respondents admitted to feeling stressed before opening an electricity bill during summer.

“The Canstar Blue air conditioner survey showed that worry over how power bills will hit the back pocket is a significant issue in Australia, particularly in New South Wales and Victoria where stress levels were the highest,” said Mickenbecker.

“Interestingly, Generation Y respondents were the most relaxed of all generations surveyed about the size of their power bills.

“The survey showed how highly Australians rate Daikin as an air conditioning provider, with the company scoring top marks in the categories of overall satisfaction, after sale service, reliability, ease of use, functionality, noise and energy efficiency.”

LG scored lowest of all the brands with three out of five stars across all categories. According to Canstar, however, this still denotes a measure of satisfaction.
