AIRLIE BEACH, QLD: As Retravision Airlie Beach evacuates in expectation of Cyclone Yasi, Queensland Police continue to appeal for information after the culprits of a smash and grab robbery at the same store on Sunday night remain at large.
The burglars threw a besser block through a glass sliding door of the Cannonvale business between 5.30pm and 10.30pm on 30 January in the midst of Cyclone Anthony while electricity in the town was out, according to Marcus Craig, proprietor of the Retravision.
Craig told Current.com.au that the robbed merchandise was located close to the door and included a number of laptops, TVs, hard drives and a George Forman Grill. The store is currently taking stock of the damages and value of the stolen property.
It is the second time in as many months that the windows of the William Murray Drive store have been smashed in, though only on the second occasion was anything stolen.
The embattled owner said he was “battening down the hatches as the rumours say we could be expecting 500 millilitres of rain an hour for the next five hours.”
