SYDNEY, NSW: Models G7152 and G7153 have been recalled due to rare cases of the internal lithium-ion rechargeable battery overheating and creating a possible fire hazard.
However, Dick Smith Electronics has stated that it has not received any reports of injuries associated with the problem. In a recall notice issued by DSE and published in daily newspapers, customers have been asked to immediately stop using the DVD player and return it to the nearest Dick Smith Store for a replacement or full refund.
“Dick Smith Electronics takes product safety very seriously,” reads the recall notice.
Furthermore, the electrical retailers states that no other DSE brand portable DVD players have been affected by the recall.
The players were sold nationwide from October 2007 to May 2010.
