SYDNEY, NSW: At least 160 of the Infocus projectors that were allegedly stolen from Revolution Technologies in Brisbane in June 2010 have been recovered by the police so far.
The arrests began early yesterday morning at approximately 8am when a 34-year-old man was taken into custody at the Waverly Police station from his fortified Bellevue Hill home.
Two hours later, a 44-year-old Condell Park man was detained at Bankstown Police Station, followed by a a 33-year-old man who presented himself to the Newtown Police Station and was subsequently arrested.
Around midday the alleged leader of what the police are calling 'the criminal group', a 39-year-old Rhodes man, was arrested at an address in Burwood and taken to Campsie Police station.
Surry Hills Regional Enforcement Squad (RES) Commander, Detective Inspector Gavin Wood, said some of the projectors were found at a number of locations including a storage facility in Marrickville and a second one in Auburn.
“We are still making inquiries into the location of those stolen goods still outstanding,” Wood said.
“These are very expensive projectors valued at around $5,000 each and we suspect a number may already have been sold off.
“Anyone with any knowledge or information regarding this alleged theft is urged to contact police.”
Surry Hills RES was called into action in September after getting wind that the projectors were located somewhere in Sydney. The Infocus projectors are sold at numerous stores nationwide including Videopro, West Coast Hi Fi, Maxwells and Just Klapp.
