MELBOURNE, VIC: Miele has today revealed a sneak peak at what it will be unveiling at IFA 2010 in Berlin. The centrepiece of Miele’s new innovations is an application for smartphones that enables users to monitor and control home appliances over wireless LAN technology.

Called InfoControl Plus, this new application, which will be available on iPhones, allows users to access their connected appliances. According to Miele, this function “allows kitchen and laundry appliances to be remotely controlled from anywhere around the home”.

Furthermore, this new connectivity can be used to alert users immediately of any problems or issues with their appliances. Once registered on Miele’s website, these alerts can be sent to any device with internet connection.

As for new products, Miele’s new CM5 Countertop Coffee Machine will be making its world premiere at IFA. Primarily known for its in-built automatic coffee machines, Miele is now taking on premium kitchen rivals De’Longhi with this new freestanding model. Miele has provided a string of adjectives to describe this model (elegant, contemporary and stylish, for example), but not much detail about how this machine will actually function.

Also on show at IFA is Miele’s new S6 Compact Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner and G5000 Dishwasher range.

Current.com.au will be reporting live from IFA 2010 once the show officially opens.
