SYDNEY, NSW: A breath of fresh air is fast becoming a valued commodity, like time, especially in winter when people are stuck on public transport, in the office, and generally indoors for most of the 24 hours in a day.

Sharp has recently released three improved air purifiers and an ion generator to the Australian market, on account of the ‘need’ for clean, fresh air.

For those not afforded the luxury of a walk along the beach or in the mountains, Sharp’s Plasmacluster technology is a method of air purification which claims to clean the air by releasing positive and negative ions. The process is meant to break down airborne allergens, bacteria, mould and viruses improving the quality of the air breathed indoors.

Improving from previous models, the new products alter the way in which the air is circulated in a room, making for a quicker process overall, a Sharp spokesperson told current.com.au.

Three out of ten common allergies are airborne; accordingly Sharp’s revamped air purifiers will be targeted to Australia’s four million allergy sufferers, as well as those craving the health benefits of pure air.

Sharp’s air purifier models have a power consumption under 1 watt on standby and less than 4 watts in silent mode.

The Plasmacluster Ion technology range is available now:

FUW28J (21m2 recommended floor size): RRP $469
FUW53J (40m2 recommend floor size): RRP $689
FUY30J (2-in-1 filter; 21m2 recommended floor size): RRP $329
IGA10J  (Ion Generator): RRP $629
