Populism meets fanaticism as MasterChef promotes the iPhone 4

By Patrick Avenell

SYDNEY, NSW: Much like the incorporation of Jon Stevens into INXS, two populist phenomena are set to collide tomorrow night when MasterChef 2 contestants front up at the Telstra store on George Street to promote the iPhone 4.

Confirmed starters at this strangely confluent event will be rotund restaurant writer Matt Preston, epicurean victor Adam Liaw, his vanquished gourmet Callum Hann, and losers including Marion, Alvin, Courtney and Matthew.

Talking about this mix of food and fanboys is Telstra consumer executive director Rebekah O’Flaherty.

“Telstra is reuniting some of the nation’s favourite former MasterChef Series 2 contestants and we’re looking forward to rewarding our loyal iPhone fans with the opportunity to get up close and personal with their cooking heroes,” said O’Flaherty.

“We’ve got an action-packed night planned and we can’t wait to get the party started. From tasty apple treats prepared by the contestants to high-energy cook-offs, this is one launch party you won’t want to miss.”
