Days after Canon Australia was awarded at the Cannes Lion awards in France, Whirlpool Australia has been selected as a finalist in three categories for the 2010 Australian Effie Awards.

Whirlpool has been nominated for the Return on Investment, Other Consumer Goods and Best Marketing Campaign categories for its ‘Guess Whose Mum’s Got a Whirlpool?’ campaign featuring Bert Newton.

To be held in Sydney on 26 August, the Effie Awards are designed to honour and recognise the year’s most effective advertising and communications campaigns that are deemed to have delivered superior results in meeting the objectives they were designed to achieve.

“This campaign has successfully demonstrated an effective partnership between DDB and ourselves in the creation, management and building of the Whirlpool brand,” said Whirlpool’s General Manager of marketing, David Graham.

Whirlpool is up against other notable contenders including Telstra, Commonwealth Bank, CUB, Optus and George Weston Foods.
