SYDNEY, NSW: As people continue to get more serious about their digital imaging, Sony Australia has introduced a new entry-level addition to its DSLR α range.

“With increasing consumer interest in professional photography, the α390 has been designed specifically for first-time DSLR users, letting them capture professional quality photos without the steep learning curve,” said Sony Australia product manager for αDSLR, Maurice Satya.

The α390 is a compact and lightweight camera that features a 14.2-megapixel CCD image sensor and Bionz image processing and is designed to take DSLR images on the go.

A variable-angle 2.7-inch LCD screen which can be tilted 55-degrees downwards and 135-degrees upwards, offers more freedom in terms of shooting angles, said the company.

The α390 also comes with Sony’s Quick AF Live View, designed to give users the speed and accuracy of phase-detection auto-focusing, even when using the LCD screen to frame subjects.

In addition, in order to help the entry-level photographers a SteadyShot Inside image stabilisation system is incorporated into the camera body to counter unwanted camera shakes.
