SYDNEY, NSW: With Australia’s first live 3D sporting broadcast coming up tonight, Samsung has been working closely with Broadcast Australia to help ensure the best possible viewing experience.

Samsung said it has been working with Broadcast Australia to utilise its knowledge of 3D hardware to help test and monitor the Sydney 3D trial transmission.

“It’s been a privilege to work with Broadcast Australia on such a significant moment in Australian broadcasting history,” said Samsung’s head of marketing for consumer electronics, Mark Leathan.

The first 3D offering on Australian television is tonight’s World Cup warm-up game between New Zealand and the Soceroos, which will air on Fox Sports at 7:20pm EST.

This will be followed this coming Wednesday night by the country’s first free-to-air 3D broadcast, the State of Origin rugby on Channel Nine.

SBS has also recently confirmed a dedicated 3D channel for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.

As one of only two suppliers, along with LG, with 3D TVs currently on the market, as well as having been available since mid-April, Samsung is very well placed to take advantage of the boom in 3D offerings.

“As the first company to bring 3D TVs to the Australian market, we want to ensure that anyone who has purchased one of our 3D TVs is blown away by the 3D broadcast,” said Leathan.
