SYDNEY, NSW: One of the great aspects of the modern digital imaging category is the number of competitions being conducted by suppliers to encourage photography amongst consumers. Sony recently conducted its Twilight Football promotion, Panasonic is big on its Lumix Life competition, and this morning, Canon announced a new promotion: The Canon Keeper Hunt.
Building on the expression ‘that’s a keeper’, Canon is encouraging users of its PowerShot compact digital cameras to submit images that capture a significant moment in the user’s life. There are four distinct briefs for the entrant: the priceless expression, the unexpected moment, the shot that says it all, and the once in a lifetime shot.
After entries close on 20 June 2010, Canon’s professional judges will narrow done the submitted photographs before a public vote on the winners. First prize in this competition is substantial: $20,000 cash. The best image in each category will win a Canon camera pack valued at $2,000, and there will also be a prize for one of the voters, which will be decided by raffle draw.
