SYDNEY, NSW: Salton Australia has this week announced a voluntary recall of a hand held mixer sold at The Good Guys, Harvey Norman, Retravision, Betta Electrical and other retailers.

The company has recalled units of its George Foreman Stick Mixer GFSM1 that have been available in Australia and New Zealand between September 2009 and March 2010.

Salton has advised that consumers immediately stop using the stick mixer’s blender shaft attachment, saying that the blender blade may break away from the shaft, which can then result in pieces of broken blade being found in food.

Batches 0933, 0935, 0942, 0943, 0949 of the stick mixer have been named in the recall.

The George Foreman Stick Mixer GFSM1 has been available nationally.

Salton has advised consumers to contact the Salton Customer Service Department toll free on 1800 190 400 (Australia) or 0508 629 777 (New Zealand) for instructions concerning the return of the shaft and receiving a replacement part.

The company has also advised that the George Foreman Stick Mixer GFSM1’s chopping bowl, including the chopping blade, and whisk are not part of the product recall.

Consumers can also visit www.recalls.gov.au for further information.
