SYDNEY, NSW: Following on from the much-hyped 3D product demonstrations by Panasonic and Sony, Sharp Australia has today announced it will be supplying a 3D projector. What’s more, Sharp will be getting a small jump on the upcoming panel releases, with its products available to retail in May.

There are two models in the range: the PG-D2500X and PG-D2710X. Sharp was not able to confirm any pricing details at this stage. Both models are native resolution (1024 x 768) and HDTV compatible. The 3D effect will necessitate active shutter glasses supporting the DLP Link system. Sharp reported that these glasses will be sold separately.

Screen sizes are adjustable from 40 inches up to 300 inches. Input sources include PCs, HD set top boxes, Blu-ray and DVD players, and gaming consoles. Both these projectors can play 2D content.

Speaking about this impending release is Sharp Australia deputy general manager Denis Kerr.

"Home theatre enthusiasts are expected to embrace 3D as they look to bring the 3D experience, currently found in the cinema, into their homes,” he said.

“3D requires a big screen to give viewers the full effect and that is what Sharp can offer to households across Australia. Only a Sharp projector with up to a 300-inch screen size can produce the cinema-like experience that 3D viewing deserves.”
