SYDNEY: At a launch event in Sydney yesterday, Remington Australia unveiled its newest hair removal product the LumaSmooth. This innovative device uses technology previously only available in salons to remove hair for up to three months.

The LumaSmooth, is a unisex system that uses Intense Pulsed Light technology to quickly and painlessly remove hair for long term results.

Karen Markby, marketing manager, Remington Products Australia, was on hand at the launch to talk about some of the features of the new product.

“The LumaSmooth uses its IPL technology to remove hair for up to 12 weeks. We are bringing this professional technology to the home and this means no more expensive visits to the salon,” she said.

To use the device, consumers must shave the area they wish to treat first then glide the device over the selected area. The LumaSmooth then emits a short pulse of intense light when it comes in contact with the skin.

After you have treated the hair follicles, they will continue to grow for another 14 days. At this stage they will fall out and the follicles will not produce new hair for up to three months and when it does grow back, the hair will often be finer, lighter and sparser.

The LumaSmooth is suitable for legs, underarms, bikini line, chest back and arms; has five energy levels; flash bulb indicator, that lasts 1,500 flashes; built-in shield around the light to reduce risk of reflection; and comes with a two year guarantee.

The LumaSmooth will be available in March 2010 for a RRP of $799 and comes with one replacement bulb. Additional bulbs will retail for $69.95.
