Sony braces for big weekend of Bravia TV sales

By Grant Shepherd

SYDNEY: It was only last week that Sony announced an extra 10,000 PS3s would be added to its Bravia promotion. That supply is starting to run low and with up to 10 days left the company is confident this weekend will be big for sales, especially since it coincides with World TV Day.

At the time of writing this article there were approximately 6,800 PS3s still up for grabs and up to 10 days left for you to claim a console (while stocks last). Seeing as this Saturday 21 November is World TV Day, Sony thinks it is the perfect time to upgrade to a Bravia.

For those of you that don’t know, World TV Day was started on 21 November 1996 and commemorates the first World Television Forum held by the United Nations. The purpose of the day is for states to encourage global exchanges of television programmes focussing on issues such as peace, security, economic and social development, and the enhancement of cultural exchanges.

Toby Barbour, deputy general manager, consumer products, marketing at Sony Australia, discussed why this weekend is the perfect time for consumers to upgrade to a Bravia.

“The countdown is falling fast, so this weekend is an ideal time to offer consumers the unbeatable combination of a Bravia LCD TV with bonus PS3, plus the peace of mind that comes with an extended three year warranty, with the knowledge that they will be getting one of the highest quality Full HD home entertainment packages,” he said.

“Consumers may be overwhelmed by the choice that is currently on the market, but just like Sony’s Bravia range of LCD TVs, not all promotions are created equal. This is simply the best value-add proposition that is available for both retailers and consumers. There’s just never been a better time to sell or purchase a TV.”

To still be in the running to get a free PS3 you have to register online at www.sony.com.au/bonus by 1 December 2009 and validate your Bravia LCD TV purchase (while stocks last).
