ASUS and NVIDIA team up to release 3D gaming notebook

By Grant Shepherd

SYDNEY: ASUS Australia has just announced the release of its newest gaming notebook the G51J 3D, which is the world’s first notebook to utilise NVIDIA 3D Vision technology for a totally different gaming and multimedia experience.

The new ASUS notebook uses NVIDIA 3D vision technology, which features a pair of 3D Vision active-shutter glasses coupled with a wide-range infra-red emitter. This delivers stereoscopic images, which according to ASUS, delivers clarity, brightness and depth-of-field at full resolution without any viewing angle restrictions.

ASUS is evidently confident in 3D technology taking off, especially in the gaming category which already has up to 400 games that are compatible out-of-the box with 3D Vision. Some recently released titles supporting the technology include Resident Evil 5, Borderlands, World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Litch King, Batman: Arkham Asylum and Star Trek D-A-C.

“NVIDIA is excited about the world’s first 3D Vision notebook coming from ASUS,” said Phil Eisler, general manager of 3D Vision business unit at NVIDIA.

“The ASUS G51J 3D notebook will set the standard by which gaming and 3D notebooks will be judged. Congratulations to ASUS for achieving this monumental milestone.”

The G51J 3D is powered by a Intel Core i7 mobile processor 1.6 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.8 GHz, it also features Windows 7 Professional and has a 15.5” HD LED backlit display and will be available for an RRP of $3,499.
