Sharp sees the light with LED LCD TV

By Martin Vedris

SYDNEY, NSW: Long recognised for its quality in LCD TV, now Sharp is the latest manufacturer to introduce an LED LCD to its TV line up.

The new 40-inch AQUOS LED backlight LCD TV (LC-40LE700X) in encased in the ubiquitous and obligatory piano black bezel.

It’s all about the panel though and Sharp call it an “X-Gen Panel with advanced pixel control and Ultra Brilliant LEDs”.

Sharp is also claiming a win for the environment because LED LCD TV delivers an energy consumption reduction compared with conventional LCD TVs. It draws a low power consumption of 139 Watts, as well as producing less heat generation. Sharp claims it has a six-star energy rating and that the backlight life is 100,000 hours.

LED is renowned for high contrast and the LC-40LE700X claims a high dynamic contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1.

It also has Fine Motion Advanced Technology for a 100/120Hz frame rate conversion and a fast pixel response time of 4ms.

It features SRS TruSurroundHD and Bass Enhancer for high impact sound.

It also offers 3 x HDMI inputs, 2 x AV-In, 2 x Component, S-Video In, PC In as well as AV, Optical Audio and headphone out terminals. Additionally the HDMI and AQUOS Link feature allows users to control compatible HDMI connected products using a single remote control. Other features include an inbuilt digital tuner and Teletext and Freeview compatibility.

The 40-inch LC-40LE700X is available at RRP $2,999.
