SYDNEY: The liquidator of the collapsed Kleenmaid organisation, Deloitte, has responded to claims in Current.com.au’s article yesterday that the liquidation process is taking too long and the issue is going to be forgotten.

Jonathan Sollitt-Davis, Deloitte communications manager, contacted Current.com.au yesterday and wanted to clear up some of the comments attributed to the organisation and the how the liquidation process is travelling.

According to Sollitt-Davis one of the main reasons the process has been a little bit slow is that the company is currently waiting on funding approval from the ASIC in order for it to continue its thorough investigations.

“Before Deloitte can move on with its investigations into Kleenmaid, we need our funding request approved by ASIC,” he said. “An investigation of this size and complexity takes time and money.

“The amount proposed is significant, therefore it will take some time to be approved. But fingers crossed it will be approved in the very near future.”

In addition to this Sollit-Davis emphasised that the liquidation and subsequent investigation is not something that can be rushed.

“The company has to make sure it is thoroughly prepared to present its case to ASIC,” he said. “We want to make sure the investigation is done properly and is not rushed.”

It was also emphasised that Deloitte is still currently working hard, despite the fact that it is waiting for funding approval.

“We are still actively pursuing the Kleenmaid issue, the recent caveat we put on the sale of Andrew Young’s properties is an example of how Deloitte is actively taking part in the issue.”
