Canon creates two new roles in its retail team

By Grant Shepherd

SYDNEY: Canon Australia has just announced the promotion of two of its employees to fill new positions created in the company: general manager-retail and consumer leadership, and national business manager-retail.

Brydie York will take on the role of general manager-retail and consumer leadership and will be responsible for the national account teams as well as leading Canon’s category management team.

York has been a part of the company for the past eight months and was responsible for leading the category management strategy and approach for Canon.

Filling the position of national business manager-retail is Troy Cabot, who will be a part of York’s team. He will be responsible for managing Canon’s national account managers for retail.

Cabot has been with Canon since August 2007, where he has held positions as a national account manager for Victoria and field sales manager for Victoria and Tasmania. As well as working in the photo industry for 19 years in a range of sales roles for Australian photo retail outlets.

“Both Brydie and Troy have demonstrated their strong commitment to Canon and have had significant impact on our business success already,” said Jason McLean, senior general manager-indirect sales, Canon Australia.

“These new appointments have been made to further strengthen Canon’s sales integration with our category management focus, all of which will drive new levels of understanding and insight for Canon and our retail channel.”

Both appointments are effective as from 1 July 2009.
