Trujillo leaves early; Thodey takes top spot as new Telstra CEO

By Grant Shepherd

SYDNEY: Telstra has just announced that David Thodey has started his new role as CEO today, after former boss Sol Trujillo returned to the US early, his new role was meant to start on 1 July.

Mr Trujillo had initially agreed to stay at Telstra until 30 June, but due to the fact that the appointment was of an internal candidate, he wanted to ensure the transition was as smooth and swift as possible.

Mr Thodey will be replaced as group managing director (GMD) of Telstra Enterprise and Government by Ms Nerida Caesar, who will take leave until she begins in her new role on June 9. Ms Caesar was recently appointed GMD of Telstra Wholesale,” said the company in a statement.

Glenn Osborne has been appointed acting GMD, Telstra Wholesale, effective immediately. Osbourne was previously executive director of Telstra Wholesale Sales.
