Panasonic appoints new marcoms director

By Martin Vedris

SYDNEY: As an endorsement of the work she has performed on projects, including the Beijing Olympics campaign, Panasonic has appointed Gemma Lemieux as director of Marketing Communications; this is Lemieux 's second promotion at Panasonic.

In the new role, Lemieux will be responsible for overseeing all the marketing communications and activities across Panasonic’s broad range of product divisions.

Lemieux has held the role of Marketing Communications manager at Panasonic since 2006, prior to which she was the Panasonic group manager – Mobiles.

“This appointment reflects the increasingly complex role that Gemma has undertaken since assuming responsibility for Marketing Communications in April 2006,” said Steve Rust, Panasonic Australia managing director.

“Gemma’s recent achievements include leading the selection and appointment of a new advertising agency, the first change in 20 years, and managing the largest Olympic linked marketing campaign in Panasonic Australia’s history.

“Marketing Communications is vital to our success and Gemma’s appointment reflects her expanded responsibilities,” Rust said.

Lemieux received a Bachelor of Business from Curtin University of Technology, and is currently studying for her MBA. Previously, she has worked as a marketing manager, corporate and telecommunications, at Samsung, and has also worked in marketing at Orange.
