SYDNEY: Vivo is a new name in LCD and plasma TV, but its parent company, Natcomp International, has been trading for 19 years. And now, to control quality of its flat panel TVs, the company is assembling them rather than re-badging ‘off the shelf’ Chinese product.
“The Vivo brand is new but the company, Natcomp International, has been around for a long time, the company has been solid for 20 years and it has been established since 1989,” said Natcomp managing director, Fabio Grassia.
Natcomp International built its business by supplying IT products.
“I’m not a one night flyer,” said Grassia. “That’s important to me.”
Although competing in the company of technology giants like Panasonic, Sony, Samsung and LG, one of the positives of the Vivo brand is its ability to react to the market and also the fact that now the company sources the components and assembles them in its factory in China.
“I buy the panels, I negotiate on the case, the AV board, the power board, everything that goes with it to make a TV. So we have total control over the quality and the price so that’s why we can react to the market,” said Grassia.
“The Vivo brand is about quality at the right price point and we achieve the quality because we have control over the manufacturing.”
New from Vivo is a HD 1920 x 1080i 50-inch plasma, the VP50PL, at RRP $1,499.
“I am increasing sales every month, we are selecting retailers who think they can take the product and who we can work with because the relationships are very important,” Grassia said.
