MELBOURNE: Samsung has signed on the Essendon Football Club’s new major sponsor in what the club is calling the biggest sponsorship deal in AFL history.

From next year, the Samsung branding will appear on the front and back of the Essendon guernsey. This will bring Essendon into the company of Chelsea Football Club, the Sydney Roosters and the Melbourne Victory as Samsung sports partners.

Talking about this sponsorship agreement is Essendon managing director Peter Jackson.

“Samsung has supported Essendon over the past two years and we are pleased they are seeing the value of their investment returned and have upgraded as our principal sponsor. It is a major boost and show of support for our club,” said Jackson.

“The AFL environment is becoming increasingly competitive - especially with two new clubs joining the league - so this Samsung partnership will underpin our business for the next three years and further build our reputation as one of Australia’s most respected sporting club.”

Samsung Australia director of marketing Kurt Jovais was also enthusiastic about the new deal.

“Through our Essendon sponsorship, Samsung will be connecting to more loyal and dedicated AFL members than any other channel, ensuring the Samsung brand gains ongoing national exposure and recognition," said Jovais.
