Mark Deo joins Oricom as Queensland BDM

By Patrick Avenell

BRISBANE: Mark Deo, formerly of Telstra and Virgin Mobile, has been appointed Oricom business development manager for Queensland. An Oricom spokesperson said, “Mark will be directly responsible for maintaining the strong sales growth, strengthening Oricom’s relationships with dealers, and sourcing new channels.”

Speaking about his appointment, Deo said, “It’s a great opportunity to be apart (sic) of such a fast growing company, [one that] is dedicated to providing the best possible customer service and support.”

Deo himself sees this role as an opportunity to impress, citing a slowdown in sales as his biggest challenge. “With less and less customers coming through the door recently, we need to convince the retailers that our products have the best margins,” said Deo.

The message that Deo has for these retailers is upbeat and determined. “I’m ethical and professional. I’ll make sure our brands are working in their stores,” said Deo.

Asked about these brands, Deo nominated the ‘eco series’ as the most exciting. The best feature of which, according to Deo, is their green sensibility. “It has a smaller environmental footprint than other brands in the market,” said Deo.
