Ricoh promotes waterproof, dustproof and shock resistant camera at PMA

By Martin Vedris

BRISBANE: Ricoh displayed its new G600 10 megapixel digital camera at PMA — it is shockproof against falls up to 1.5 m, waterproof to 1 metre for 30 minutes of underwater shooting and it is dustproof.

Ricoh said that its tests revealed that this camera has a shock absorbing structure that makes it capable of surviving falls of up to 1.5 m onto 26 surfaces. The camera’s air-tight construction also makes it dust-proof.

The flash has an effective range of up to 10 m for wide-angle and 6.5 m for telephoto shots and for low lighting conditions, the camera achieves up to ISO3200 sensitivity for low-light photography. The camera has a shoe for an external flash.

This model weighs 260 g including memory card and strap, it measures of 116.5mm (W) × 68.0mm (H) × 32.0mm (D) and it features a 2.7-inch LCD.

The lens is a 28-140 mm that offers a five times optical zoom and the camera has a macro mode which takes photos from a distance of one centimetre.
