Emtec confirms late EM-PC launch date and retracts $449 price

By Chris Nicholls

SYDNEY: Local Emtec distributor IMC Australasia has confirmed the delayed release for its compact Eee PC competitor, the EM-PC, and also cast doubt on its listed $449 price.

Responding to yesterday’s story on Current.com.au, IMC Australasia national brand manager, Tom DiTerlizzi, said the launch date for the EM-PC had been confirmed for September, and said the price had “not been finalised”.

The EM-PC’s original July launch date would have made it the second possible Eee PC competitor in Australia, after HP’s Mini Note.

Like the Eee PC, Emtec said the EM-PC would be aimed at students but said it was seeking to sell the product through retail channels.
